Call it Dimitrov dominance.
For the third year in a row, David Dimitrov left the rest of the field in his wake to capture the annual Across the Lake Swim.
The 20-year-old from West Kelowna completed the 2.1 km swim Saturday morning from the Old Ferry Docks on the Westside to Hot Sands Beach in City Park in 22 minutes 17 seconds.
Wouter Terpstra was second in the 64th edition of the race in 23:25, while 14-year-old Josh Zakala (M 1 to 15) from Kelowna was third for the second straight year in 23:34.
For the second year in a row, Jeanne Carlsen (W45 to 54) was the first woman to finish the swim in 24:29.
Dimitrov won the Across the Lake Swim in 2010 in 21:41, and again last year in 21:58.
Dimitrov, a former member of the University of Calgary swim team, currenltly competes in the pool with the Liquid Lightning Swim Club and is coached by his father, Emil Dimitrov.
Eariler this month he set three new B.C. AAA long course records at provincials in Richmond.
The ATLS course record belongs to Roland Bauhart who made the crossing in 1997 in 20:49.
Other age group winners Saturday were: Kiah Lee (F 1 to 15); Kierra Smith (F 16 to 24); Heather Wurtele (F 25 to 34); Rohan Jacobs (M 25 to 34); Natalie Tardif (F 35 to 44); Jeff Welechuk (M 35 to 44); Rob Davis (M 45 to 54); Jennifer Leach-Trask (F 55 to 64); Glenn Carlsen (M 55 to 64); Diane Parchomchuk (F 65 to 99); and Earl Ellis (M 65 to 99).
Princess Paddlers (Wouter Terpstra, Florian Terpstra, Sam Grenier and Josh Phillips) won the team event with an average time of 24:32.
