Langley and New Westminster battle to a 7-7 tie in Western Lacrosse Association action

The Langley Thunder scored four times in the final period to rally and tie the New Westminster Salmonbellies 7-7.

The two senior A lacrosse teams played at the Langley Events Centre on June 19.

Jarrett Toll and Shayne Jackson scored goals 2:30 apart in the latter half of the final frame to force overtime.

Neither team could score in the extra session.

Langley had opened the scoring courtesy of Alex Turner, but that would be the team’s lone lead of the night as 16 seconds later, Logan Schuss scored the first of his two goals in the period.

For the rest of the game, the Thunder played catch-up, tying the game a couple of times, but never able to forge ahead.

Turner finished with a pair of goals for Langley, while Kyle Belton and Athan Iannucci had a goal and two assists apiece.

Toll and Mitch McMichael finished with a goal and a helper each.

The tie leaves Langley with a record of 5-2-1 as they approach the halfway mark of the 18-game season.

They will look to return to the win column when they visit the Burnaby Lakers on June 21 at the Bill Copeland Arena.
