The Langley Thunder struck for eight of the game’s final nine goals as they took a 2-0 series lead over the Victoria Shamrocks.
Trailing 8-5 early in the third period of Thursday night’s Western Lacrosse Association senior A playoff series at the Langley Events Centre, the Thunder put on an offensive display, scoring eight times on 15 shots.
Victoria led 3-0 after one period and 7-5 after 40 minutes.
But the third period was all Langley.
And as was the case in game one, Athan Iannucci did the bulk of the offensive damage, registering six points (four goals, two assists).
But he was far from alone in finding the back of the net.
Kerry Susheski and Jamie Lincoln both scored twice and set up another pair each, while Pat Saunders struck for a hat trick.
Jarrett Toll (one goal, two assists), Andrew Potter (four assists) and Rob Van Beek (one goal, one assist) also had multiple point games.
The Thunder also survived the ejection of goaltender Brodie MacDonald, who was ejected 3:01 into the game for using illegal equipment.
He was replaced by Joe Bell, who finished with 31 saves.
Game three of the best-of-seven series is Saturday (Aug. 6) in Victoria, while game four is back at the Langley Events Centre on Monday night (Aug. 8).
