A trio of UBC Thunderbirds will be flying with the Kelowna Falcons this summer.
Right-handed pitcher Alex Graham and Jeremy Newton, and infielder Kevin Biro have signed with the West Coast League baseball club for the 2014 season.
Graham, out of North Vancouver, is in his third season with the T-Birds. He’s thrown 9.1 innings so far this spring and is 1-0 with a 2.89 ERA.
Newton is a Toronto native in his sophomore season and has thrown 56.2 innings this spring. He’s 2-2 with a 3.49 ERA, striking out 33 in 11 appearances.
Biro is a junior from Deep Bay, B.C., and played for the Parksville Royals of the BCPBL. The third baseman is hitting .350 with 55 hits and 30 RBIs in 157 at bats.
These latest players follow in the footsteps of a number of other Thunderbirds to play for the Falcons in the past: Brad Ashman (2005), Bob Foerster and John Syrnyk (2008), Blake Curruthers (2011), Keaton Briscoe (2011), David Otterman (2011) and Andrew Firth (2011-2012)
All three players will be in Kelowna on report date in preparation for the 2014 summer season.
