There was a good turnout for the Men’s Golf Club championships at the 108 Golf Resort on Aug. 20-21.

There was some excitement as Mother Nature decided to unleash a thunderstorm with lightning, heavy rains and gusty winds.

Golfer Bill Harris says they saw a lightning bolt followed immediately a loud thunder clap. The last three groups of golfers out on the course immediately hustled for shelter in the maintenance shed.

They waited for about 45 minutes before they returned to the rain-soaked course, he adds.

There were familiar names atop the leader board.

Shane Wilkie finished the two-day championship as the overall low gross champion.

The overall low net champion was Met Boyson.
