The Williams Lake Midget Timberwolves went undefeated during the weekend at a tournament in Kamloops to win the gold medal.
The T-wolves thumped Vernon 5-1 in the final Sunday on the strength of two goals from Cody Swan and single tallies from Justin Swan, Grady Thomas and Brendan Pigeon. Thomas and Justin also notched two assists a piece in the winning effort.
Williams Lake’s win marks the third gold medal the team has captured in five tournaments so far this season.
The Timberwolves’ path to the final consisted of a 5-5 tie with Port Coquitlam, a 6-1 drubbing of Nanaimo, a 4-2 doubling of Kamloops and a 9-2 victory over Campbell River in the semifinal.
Next up for the T-wolves is a tier one and two tournament in Penticton on Jan. 20.
