Time to get serious for the Selkirk Saints

Defence of their BCIHL championship season begins after tonight's final exhibition game against Trinity Western.

The Selkirk Saints continue their impressive run of exhibition games tonight in Castlegar when they play their second game in as many nights against the Trinity Western Spartans of Langley.

The Saints lead the BCIHL with four wins, two losses and one overtime loss in the seven pre-season games they’ve played to date, including a 4 – 0 shutout of Trinity in Nelson yesterday.

The Saints had an impressive third period in Nelson, opening the scoring on two power play goals before adding two more before the end of regulation.

Tonight’s matchup will be the final exhibition game for the Selkirk College skaters, who will begin their BCIHL defence against Eastern Washington University Eagles on Friday, Oct 4 at 7:30 p.m. at the Castlegar Community Complex.

Saints season ticket packages are now on sale, with each package consisting of three preseason games and 12 regular season contests for a total of 15 games.

“Last season we received outstanding fan support all season long and that resulted in a ton of energy and atmosphere on game nights at the Castlegar Complex,” said Saints head coach Jeff Dubois in a release. “We’re looking forward to defending our championship in front of even bigger crowds this season and hopefully building our base of Season Pass holders, as this support is very important to the growth of our program.”
