In a battle of two of the province’s top 3A senior girls basketball teams, it was the No. 2 Brookswood Bobcats topping the No. 7 Walnut Grove Gators.
The two Fraser Valley rivals played a league game on Tuesday (Jan. 10) at Walnut Grove Secondary School with Louise Forsyth leading the way in a 88-58 ’Cats victory.Forsyth scored a game-high 31 points Janessa Knapp had 17, Jenna Dick had 15 and Lyric Castodio chipped in 13 for Brookswood.
The Gators were led by Tavia Rowell’s 19 points while Natalie Rathler and Wisotzki had 13 points apiece.
It was the second time in four days the Langley rivals met on the hardwood with Brookswood winning 85-79 on Saturday night in the championship finals of a tournament hosted by Abbotsford’s MEI Eagles.
In that game, Forsyth and Dick scored 27 points apiece.
Walnut Grove was led Rowell’s 37 points and 11 assists and another 23 from Rathler.
