There were no surprises in the first round of the Komoux Masters Real Baseball League playoffs on Sunday.
But now the suspense is building as the league takes the Labour Day long weekend off before the semifinals are held.
Three games were played this past Sunday at Highland, with the higher-placed team winning them all. Happy’s Source for Sports Indians (fourth) got things going with a 6-1 win over the Williams Construction Nationals (tied for fifth).
Dundee Giants (third) blanked Brian McLean Yankees 7-0, and Courtenay Plumbing Twins (second) took care of Investors Group Astros (seventh) 12-7.
The results set the stage for the semis, which go Sept. 9 at Highland. At 10 a.m. the Giants will take on the Twins while at 1 p.m. p.m. regular season champs Fisher Realty Blue Jays join the fray as they take on the Indians.
