Top teams draw

The top two teams in North Okanagan Women’s Soccer Association Division 2 battled to a 2-2 draw Thursday night at Marshall Field #1.

The top two teams in North Okanagan Women’s Soccer Association Division 2, the Do-Itt Drywall Mud Sharks and the OTC/Sunterra Sistas, battled to a 2-2 draw Thursday night at Marshall Field #1.

Tania Wirachowsky opened it up for the Sistas (11-1-1) on a pass from Deanna Baker to cut the Mud Sharks (11-2-1) lead in half.

With 10 minutes left in the game, Baker set up Andrea Zubot to score the equalizer.

Kickers curb Centreline

The Chick Kickers stopped the Centreline Attack 7-3 at MacDonald Park.

The Attack (3-12) broke the goose egg in the second half with three goals from Monika Jatel, Amber Miller and Jodi Hawthorne.

Stars spank Kelowna

Meanwhile, Nigel Clack and Wolfgang Bopp each supplied hat tricks as the Silver Stars earned a 6-1 win over Kelowna #1 in Okanagan Men’s 55+ Soccer League play Thursday night at MacDonald Park.

Steve Coombs anchored the defence and missed the net on three quality chances as the first-place Stars improved to 13-2-2. Kelowna is 3-13-1.

Vernon Kal Tire and Winfield battled to a 1-1 draw at Reiswig Park in Lake Country.

Tibor Hymer caught Kal Tire keeper Felix Heinrich off his line and went top shelf for Winfield early in the second half.

Defender Rob Parkin converted a penalty kick past Peter Butler near 77 minutes.

The PK was awarded after Butler took down winger Terry Lowe on the right side of the 18.

Kal Tire is fifth at 6-7-3, while the Lakers are third at 8-4-5.
