Another great crowd at the Towhee gym watched their Vanier senior boys play Ballenas from Parksville in a North Island 3A basketball match, Tuesday evening.

Every Towhee scored and played equitable amounts in a game that started slow. Vanier’s size, however, became too much for the visitors.

Sharpshooter Jayden Haftner hit four threes, but that was the most that Ballenas could muster as numerous Towhees enjoyed their fast-break style.

Each member of Vanier scored. Leading the way was Peter Greaves with 19 points and nine rebounds. Jeff Powell came off the bench to chip in 18 points and eight rebounds. Jakob Tortorelli had 15 points and eight rebounds. Cam Bell scored nine points, and Justin Watt was strong on the boards again with eight rebounds.

Next up for the Towhees is the Belmont Tournament in Victoria, Dec. 27-29.
