The Trafalgar Thunder girls volleyball team rallied from a low seed to win a tournament last weekend in Oliver.

Trafalgar’s team, which is made up of Grade 7 and 8 students, finished fourth in the round robin. That set up a semifinal game against top-seeded Keremeos, which Trafalgar knocked out.

Then in the final, the Thunder downed Penticton 25-16 and 25-14 to capture first place with captain Abby Ens named Most Valuable Player.

The victory comes after Trafalgar hosted a tournament earlier this month against teams from Nakusp, Mount Sentinel and a combo team from Wildflower School and St. Joseph’s.
