The Trail Senior Mens’ Curling wrapped up 2011 in style with their annual Christmas lunch that marked the end of the second session.

Primo Secco’s rink ended the session with wins against tough opponents in Satch Freschi and Stan Trozzo. The team started the session slow but gelled in the final few games, winning the last one 4 – 2 against Trozzo.

The McKerracker and Tyson rinks started with seconds Cecil Dubois and Wayne Weaver skipping. After two ends it was tied 6 – 6 but the game settled down over the next six ends and ended 10 – 6 for the McKerracher rink.

In the Drinnan-Coleman match up, high scoring ends at the start of the game preceded a strategic battle as the front ends consistently set the stage for high pressure shots by the skips.  The Drinnan foursome eked out a slim 6 – 4 victory over the Coleman team.

The last game of the session pitted the top two teams, Hall vs Jewitt.  The Jewitt team stole one in the first and two in the second end to jump out to a quick 3 – 0 lead. The Hall foursome rallied back with two in the third and two in the fourth end to take a lead they would not relinquish and went on to an 8-4 victory.

The fun day saw rinks mix up their lineups, then have a turkey shoot at the end of the day where winning draws to the button each took home a fresh turkey.

Curling starts again Wednesday at 1p.m., come and see what you have been missing.
