A trio of local athletes are off to Hershey, Pennsylvania after qualifying for the Hershey North American Track and Field Championships, Aug. 4 to 7.
More than 400,000 kids between the ages of nine and 14 compete in Hershey meets all over North America. Winners are selected to a regional team, which competes at the North American Final in Hershey.
Natalie Auersperg will be competing in the 200 metre event, while fellow Golden Ears Athletics member Reid Muller will be running in the 800-metre event.
Auersperg finished first at the Fraser Valley Track and Field Championships in May in the Grade 8 long jump event, as well as the 200-metre and 400-metre sprints.
Muller finished first in the 800-metre and 3,000-metre events at the Fraser Valley meet.
Maple Ridge’s Cade Cote will also be competing in Hershey after winning three events at the qualifying tournament.
