There were lots of smiles on the slopes Saturday, Dec. 14, as Troll Resort opened for the season.
The skill hill, which is located about 40 minutes from Quesnel on Highway 26, opened at 9 a.m., and for Saturday, skiers and snowboarders could pay for their lift tickets and rentals by donating non-perishable food items for the Salvation Army. The ski resort collected a trailer-full of food, which they brought to the Salvation Army in Quesnel Monday, Dec. 16.
“It was awesome,” said Leonard Sinclair, whose wife, Hildur Fossberg Sinclair, is Troll’s owner/manager and is part of the second generation of Fossbergs to operate the ski resort, noting staff and visitors remarked it was probably some of the best snow conditions they’ve seen at Troll for opening weekend.
Troll is now open every day until Jan. 5, but closed Christmas Day. Lifts start at 9 a.m., and the last run of the day is at 3:20 p.m. The Silver Lift opened Saturday, Dec. 21 and will be open all of the Christmas holidays.
Passes are available at Rocky Peak Adventure Gear in downtown Quesnel or at Troll, where cash and cheques are preferred to Interact, as he dial-up system is slow.
