Thompson Rivers University WolfPack volleyball assistant coach, Chad Grimm is hosting a volleyball camp in Quesnel.
Grimm, who graduated from Correlieu senior secondary in 1996 and players from the WolfPack are in Quesnel Aug. 22 – 25 at the CSS gym.
The camp, Grimm said, is for students in Grades 6 – 12. Sessions for students in Grades 6 – 9 run from 9 a.m. – noon and from 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. for students in Grades 10 – 12.
The camp features current members of the TRU WolfPack as well as Grimm, who played for the WolfPack, the UBC Thunderbirds as well as professionally in Denmark and Belgium and his wife Anne Christiansen a former National Team player for Denmark. The camps will focus on several skills, including passing, setting, serving, spiking, defence and blocking.
In addition, Grimm said camp participants learn team concepts and team play.
The cost for the camp is $100 and includes a TRU WolfPack T-shirt.
Given he is a graduate of CSS, the Quesnel volleyball camp is important to Grimm and he knows there are some very skilled players in Quesnel.
“Several kids from Quesnel have gone on to succeed in university volleyball, including Hayley Hills, Trevor Briggs, Justin Merta, Kris Brand and Julie Herringshaw,” Grimm said.
Of course, the camp also allows Grimm to scout for the future players who might suit up for the WolfPack who finished sixth last season in the Canada West division after losing in the playoffs to the eventual National Champion Trinity Western Spartans.
