The Richards and the Parkinson rinks, both from the Comox Valley Curling Club, have qualified to represent Vancouver Island at the BC Winter Games, Feb. 20-23 in Fort St. John.
Both teams won in straight games in a best-of-three competition in Lake Cowichan.
Team Richards — which recently competed at the U18 B.C. Curling Championships in Victoria — will be defending their title in Fort St. John, having won gold two years ago at the BC Winter Games in Kamloops.
The team hosts a fundraiser Jan. 30 at the CV Curling Club to help offset travel costs for the remainder of the year. There will be prizes, including tickets and hotel for a Vancouver Canucks/Calgary Flames game, and a six-hour fishing charter.
