The Trinity Western Spartans geared up for the second half of the Canada West regular season with a 74-53 non-conference victory over the visiting Manitoba Bisons last Friday night at the Langley Events Centre.
The Spartans women’s basketball team scored 27 points in the third quarter — matching their first-half output — to take control of what had been a one-point game at the break.
Coach Cheryl Jean-Paul said they talked during the half about what sort of team they wanted to be and then came out and executed in the second half.
“I think we have been capable of playing this style for a long time and in the second half we finally showed up,” she said.
Emily Knauff led the way with 15 points and five rebounds while Janell Traber, with 14 points, and Sarah Cleveland, with 10, also hit double digits in scoring.
The Spartans (3-5 in league play) resume their Canada West schedule with home games Friday and Saturday at the LEC.
