U12 United win cup semifinal

Peace Arch United’s U12 Blue boy team earned not just an important Delta District Cup playoff victory with a win over the Tsawwassen Blues last month, but also exacted a measure of revenge, too.

Peace Arch, a gold-division squad, edged Tsawwassen 6-5 on penalty kicks in the game, which was played just three weeks after the Blues defeated PAU in a Conference Cup tilt, 3-1.

The win didn’t come easy, however, as Peace Arch found themselves down 3-0 after just eight minutes of play, before battling back to tie the game and send it to extra time and, eventually, penalty shots.

Max Marra scored two goals for Peace Arch, and Oscar Thompson tied the game when he scored on a penalty kick after Justin Koprowski was hauled down in the box.

When it came time for penalty kicks, Thompson, Marra, Malachi McMullin, Matthew Brown, Sean Zanatta and Koprowski all score for United, while goalkeeper Brighton Vinet stood tall in the PAU net.

With the victory, Peace Arch advanced to Delta Cup finals against, coincidentally, another PAU club, United Gold White.
