UFV Cascades golfers on a roll through PacWest

Through two PacWest tournaments, the University of the Fraser Valley men’s and women’s golf teams both sit in first place.

Through two PacWest tournaments, the University of the Fraser Valley men’s and women’s golf teams both sit in first place in the cumulative standings.

Playing at Okanagan Golf club in Kelowna last week, the Cascades men cruised to victory with a score of 564, 13 better than the runner-up Camosun Chargers. Darren Whitehouse finished atop the individual standings with a two-day total of 132, while Aaron Pauls was second at 139.

On the women’s side, UFV athletes also finished one-two individually, as Jen Woods shot a two-day score of 152 to edge teammate Dani Shap (157). Through two tournaments, they hold a commanding 32-stroke lead over Vancouver Island University.

The third PacWest tourney runs Sept. 28-29 in Victoria.

In honour of their strong play, Whitehouse and Woods were named the UFV/Abbotsford Heat athletes of the week.
