The Fraser Valley Water Polo Club’s under-16 girls squad claimed victory Saturday in the National Championship League final in Calgary.
Captained by Abbotsford’s Brianna Utas, Fraser Valley knocked off the Calgary Renegades 14-12.
Tanaya Makazu scored three goals, while Utas tallied three and was named the tournament’s most valuable player.
Fraser Valley coach Justin Mitchell was also named the best under-16 coach at the tournament.
Fraser Valley had advanced to the final after a narrow 13-12 victory over CAMO from Montreal. Utas scored four times in that game, with Makazu adding three.
