The man who led one of the most remarkable turnarounds in junior football history has been named Coach of the Year in the B.C. Football Conference.
The league announced its major award winners Monday.
Reist was a slam-dunk selection for his award after leading the Valley Huskers to a 6-4 record and a playoff spot. That after going winless the previous three seasons.
Reist’s crew beat the Vancouver Island Raiders and Okanagan Sun for the first time ever in regular season play.
Their season ended last weekend in Kelowna with a semi-final loss versus the Sun.
Reist wasn’t the only Husker getting a major award as quarterback Julian Wytinck walked off with Outstanding Offensive Player honours.
Reist’s most important offseason recruit gave the Huskers the best starting QB in franchise history, and the Manitoba native responded by completing 189 of 247 passes for 2,745 yards and 18 touchdowns.
Anthony Dyck was one of his top targets and was named the BCFC’s Top Receiver after catching 46 balls for 830 yards and a league-leading 11 majors.
Brandon Poulin is the Canadian Junior Football League nominee for Top Return Specialist after producing 567 yards and a touchdown on kick returns and 268 yards on punt runbacks.
