Valley Husker head coach Bob Reist believes he’ll have one of the top defensive units in the B.C. Football Conference this season, and now we know why.
The bench boss revealed a massive recruit Tuesday morning.
Linebacker David Steeves has spent the last four seasons at Trinity Bible College in Ellendale, North Dakota. He was a three-time National Christian College All-American with the Lions, collecting 242 tackles, 13 sacks and 44 tackles for loss while setting a school record for most forced fumbles in a career.
The Winnipeg native participated in the Canadian Football League’s Eastern Regional Combine and there’s a chance he may be selected in the CFL draft on May 2, or sign a free agent contract afterwards.
“If not the Huskers will be happy to help him continue his development and help him readjust to the Canadian game,” Reist said. “This signing really helps solidify the middle of our defence. David is the type of ball hawk and finisher we were looking for at the middle linebacker position. His ability to create turnovers is the icing on the cake.”
