Nanaimo’s Van Osch sisters will all get to curl together at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts.
Skip Kesa Van Osch, along with Marika Van Osch, Kalia Van Osch and Amy Gibson, won the B.C. championship on Sunday at the Victoria Curling Club with an 11-4 victory over the Karla Thompson rink from Kamloops.
“I couldn’t be more proud,” said Kesa, in a Curl B.C. press release, crediting her teammates. “They’re a bunch of amazing girls. They’ve played great all week and it’s great that we could take it home in the final.”
The Van Osch rink held just a 5-4 edge after five ends, but added a point in the sixth end and stole more points in the seventh, eighth and ninth ends until the game was out of reach.RELATED: Van Osch sisters to curl for B.C. championship
“It’s been a long time since I have been able to take my sisters to nationals,” Kesa said, recalling 2012 when the sisters won B.C.’s junior championship.
Because of the age differences between the sisters, they haven’t always been on the same teams in recent years. Kesa, the oldest, has skipped Team B.C. at the Tournament of Hearts once before, in 2014, when Kalia and Marika were curling at the junior level.
The Tournament of Hearts will be played in Penticton from Jan. 27-Feb. 4.
