THE VANCOUVER ISLAND Loppet, with categories for all ages, is a popular, fun way to end the ski season.

The Strathcona Nordics invite you to end your cross-country ski season in style by skiing in the 30th Annual Vancouver Island (V.I.) Loppet on Saturday, March 31.

Organizers say the loppet promises to be fun for all ages and abilities – it’s a mass start event with distances for children, youth, recreational skiers, and hardcore racers. According to BC Nordic magazine, “This [V.I.] free technique loppet is one of the most popular late season loppets in BC.”

A loppet is a traditional long distance cross-country ski event, where skiers challenge themselves and their communities to a good, long ski. The V.I. Loppet is held in the nordic area of Mount Washington and loppet participants ski Mount Washington’s scenic, rolling nordic trails.

The event is sponsored by Mount Washington Resort, by Rossignol, and by Dr. Andreas Conradi. Participants can not only enjoy a beautiful loppet course, but also refreshments and many prizes.

Registration closes on March 29. Visit StrathconaNordics.com to learn more about the loppet and to register.
