Vees ice Chiefs in series opener

Bryce Gervais and Wade Murphy each scored twice as the Penticton Vees stuffed the Chilliwack Chiefs 6-1 in B.C. Hockey League playoff action Friday night.

Troy Stecher and Steven Fogarty also scored for the Vees in front of 2,525 fans at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

Game 2 in the opening round, best-of-seven series went Saturday.

The No. 1 Vees outshot the Chiefs 41-17 with Chad Katunar earning the win.

The Merritt Centennials beat the Prince George Spruce Kings 4-1 before a sold-out crowd of 950 at the Nicola Valley Arena.
