Demico Hannoun was the overtime hero as the Penticton Vees defeated the Salmon Arm Silverbacks 4-3 Saturday at the Shaw Centre.
Hannoun netted the winner on a penalty shot at 2:50 of the second overtime period. It’s his fourth goal of the season and first winner.
The Vees opened the scoring at 15:52 of the first period as Gabe Bast setup Riley Alferd. Alferd, who scored seven goals in 57 BCHL games last season, scored his third of the year to give the Vees a 2-0 lead. That lead disappeared as the Vees surrendered two goals on the power play to Chase Priskie and Taylor Maruya. The Silverbacks then took a 3-2 lead on a goal by Shane Danyluk. Lewis Zerter-Gossage tied it at 3-3 as he was setup by Tyson Jost and Hannoun.
Hunter Miska made 27 saves for the win, while the Silverbacks went with Zach Dyment.
