Younger sister Kelsey Falk will join her older sibling in Kelowna next year.

Falk’s sister, Brianna, is a second-year forward with UBCO.

“I am very excited to be competing for the Heat next season, especially since the team is basically like family to me already as my sister Brianna is in her second season,” said Falk, who helped guide the Panthers to a 2-1 record at their 25th annual Pit Classic tournament on the weekend. “I am looking forward to the challenge of the next level.”

In Kelowna, not only will Falk reunited with her sis, but she’ll also join former coaches Bobby Mitchell (head coach) and Lonny Mazurak (assistant) at UBCO.

“We are very excited to have Kelsey join us,” said Mitchell. “Having the opportunity to coach Kelsey for two club seasons with our Junior Heat program, I saw first-hand the talent she has. She is a true competitor who is always pushing herself and teammates, her versatility on offence and her tough defence will have an immediate impact on our team.”

Mazurak coached Falk for two seasons at VSS and was instrumental in her development as a player. He also played a big part in recruiting Falk.

“We fully expect Kelsey to come in and contribute to the program right away,” said Mitchell. “We have full confidence in her doing that.”

Also playing for the Heat are former Panthers Jordan Korol (fourth-year) and Mackenzie Horst (first-year).

The Panthers are currently 4-2 on the year and were ranked No. 8 in the pre-season AA high school girls poll. VSS has qualified for the provincial championship tournament the last 15 years in a row.
