The Lincoln Lanes bantam boys are heading to Winnipeg in May for the 4 Steps to Stardom National Fivepin Bowling Championships.
The team, consisting of Drew Fiset, Michael Hoyland, Ryan Sarantos, Kohl Killingbeck and coached by Bob Dumont, won gold in the Fraser Valley, with a four-game total of 2,460 pins.
This marks the third year in a row that Hoyland, Killingbeck and Dumont will represent B.C.
Colby Eisenhauer brought home the silver in the bantam boys division. He recorded 853 pins through five games.
The junior boys team earned a bronze with a 2,542 pinfall over four games. Aidan Buckley, Anson Harrower, Carson Christie and Andrew Zettergreen make up the team with Viki Dumont doing the coaching.
Not to be outdone, the senior boys also captured a bronze with a 3,274 score over four games. Matt Christie, Kevin Hoggard, Levi Smith and Trevor Kerr were coached by Lawrence Kupryk.
Just missing the podium were Kayli Breitkreutz from senior girls singles, Keith Hoggard in the senior boys singles, and Adam Fiset in junior boys singles. All three athletes finished fifth.
The junior girls team finished sixth. Kaylea Egely, Cassidi Breitkrutz, Miika Isnardy, Vida Chisholm and are guided by Peggy Hoggard.
Meanwhile, the men’s and ladies teams heading to the National Classified provincials have been determined. The provincials are May 10 at Willowbrook Lanes in Langley with the winner heading to Nationals in Saskatoon, June 21-22.
The ladies team bowled a 3,927. They will be represented by Catherine Bruce (583), Barb Lemay (816), Chandra Hamilton (772), Antonia Sengotta (804) and Jessy Buchanan (952).
The men’s team bowled a 4,361 in a four-game scratch. They are; Bill Jackson (699), Tony Loog (886), Braydon Lutgen (842), Sheldon Bayes (961) and Trevor Rachwalski (1003).
The tournament was highlighted by Loog’s 365, Sheldon Bayes’ 305, Lyle Rachwalski’s 341, Cliff Bayes’ 335 and Dan Deboer’s 311.
Lincoln Lanes held their Kids and Coach tournament featuring 14 teams in three-game, pins-over average tournament.
There was a tie for first with 399 points. They were; Trudy Kerr, Ashton Kenny, Patrick Kenny, Matt Christie and Trevor Kerr. Also rolling 399 were Lawrence Kupryk, Tenayah Perry, Michael Hoyland and Rayne Hill.
Finishing second with 350 points were: Rod Koenig, Riannon Gettis, Willem Gibson, Andrew Cail and Jarod Fehr.
Third place was a team made up of Bill Blair, Kaydance Jaruga, Cormac Gibson, Aidan Buckley and Kaylea Egely.
Tournament highlights were: Trevor Kerr 302 single, Bill Blair 344 single, Zakk Hamilton 100 POA and Andrew Schiewe 100 POA.
