Vernon’s Brianna Falk ended the first half of the UBC Okanagan Heat women’s basketball team’s season with her best performance to date.
Falk scored a career-high 17 points, but it wasn’t enough to help the Heat (0-12) to its first U Sports Canada West league win, as they fell 86-79 to the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades.

Jordan Korol of Coldstream added eight points and 10 rebounds for UBCO while Mackenzie Horst chipped in four points and five boards.
The night before, the Cascades (7-4) scored a 73-48 win over UBCO. Korol had eight points in the loss, Horst added four and Falk chipped in three.
In Kamloops, Vernon’s Megan Rouault and the Thompson Rivers University Wolfpack lost 83-67 to the Alberta Golden Pandas.
In men’s play, Alberta Golden Bears swept TRU by scores of 107-81 and 86-79. Vernon’s Mike Rouault had a double-double – 16 points and 11 rebounds – in the second game of the doubleheaders.

In U Sports men’s volleyball, Alberta beat TRU 3-2, scores of 25-21, 26-28, 25-27, 25-12 and 15-13. Vernon’s Landon Currie recorded seven digs for the Wolfpack.
