Vernon claimed the Golden Ring tournament in Calgary this past weekend.
The U14A Venom went 5-0 winning the top spot in overtime 6-5.
“This group has now struck gold twice at this tournament which is the biggest of its kind in Canada,” states the Greater Vernon Ringette Association.

In U10 ringette action at Kal Tire Place Saturday, Reese Bailey, Annie Pile and Jordyn Torrens outmaneuvered Westside’s offense.
The Vernon Ice Breakers capped the competition with a 11-9 win over Westside. Erica Williamson and Danika Vienneau potted three each. Assists were earned by Kaylee Ingram and Willow White. Ezra Toplov fired in two. While Kielee Ingram sniped one past the Westside goalie. Esme Szudek and Sienna Vanderlinde set up the team for goals. While Morgan Sindlinger and Sheanna Phelan both added to the tally. Tanner Jackson guarded the goal with vigor.
Vernon Lightning went one and one on the weekend. The first game on Saturday they played the Kelowna U12B team in Kelowna and won 18-1. Mara Corbett-Read and Taylor Patterson got their first goals of the year and Cali Fossum also scored once. Two goals were scored each by Rory Lang, Lucia Manton and Avery Smith and hatricks were scored by Abby Mahortoff, Kate Holmes and Kiera Horton. Kassidy Peterson was in net for the win.
On Sunday the Lightning hosted the Kelowna U12 A team and went down 4-2. Peterson played a strong game in goal and the Vernon Lightning goals were scored by Theryn Petty, assisted by Horton, and Smith, assisted by Manton and Patterson. Next Saturday the Lightning will be at home to the Vernon Thunder at 1 p.m. at Kal Tire Place.
