Vernon’s Ryan Vest is moving on to the second round of the 2016 Drive, Chip & Putt Competition.
Vest, nine, participated in the first qualifier at The Golf Club at Hawks Prairie in Lacey, Wash. last Sunday
He finished second overall with 94 points and won the driving division overall with 45 points.
The second round, sub-qualifier is in DuPont, Wash. on Wed., Aug. 10.
Vest has to finish in the top-2 to reach the finals in San Francisco in September.
“It was a great Father’s Day present,” said dad Jeff Vest, accompanied his wife, Laurie.
Ryan, who turns 10 in July, is a Grade 4 student at Silver Star Elementary School. He has been playing competitively since he was six.
