Vernon’s Ryan Vest carded a 73 Saturday to finish in a three-way tie for second place in the Interior Junior Golf Tour stop at the Kamloops Golf & Country Club.
Vest, who turns 10 in July, was three strokes back of winner Tiegan Taylor of Kelowna. Vest shared runner-up with Terry Cousineau of Kamloops and Mike White of Princeton. Vest topped the Bantam 14 and under class.
A week ago in the Penticton tournament, Vest aced his second shot on the par-3 13th hole after striking his first attempt into the pond.
Breaden Cooper of Predator Ridge placed ninth at 76, while Parker Wadsworth of Vernon was 13th at 77. Dexter Weiten of Vernon shot 82 for a share of 22nd in the field of 42.
Adam Niles, 13, of Kamloops (Rivershore) won Sunday’s stop at Rivershore for his fourth Bantam title of the season with a 70.
Bantams, girls and the younger kids play off the red tees and are not eligible for Order of Merit points, as juniors play off the blues.
Matt Hopley of Kelowna (Gallagher’s Canyon and Taylor each carded 72.
Vest was second Bantam and 15th overall with an 80 in the field of 37th. Cooper carded an 81 for 16th, while Wadsworth and Weiten each had 83s for a share of 22nd.
Next Tour stop and a B.C. Summer Games qualifier went Saturday at the Vernon Golf & Country Club.
