The Victoria Cougars used a four-goal second period to put away the Saanich Braves 5-0 in one of two Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League games played on Thursday night.
Robert Zadra paced the attack with a goal and two assists.
The win improved the Cougars record to 2-0-0-0.
It was a much better effort from the Braves who exactly one week ago dropped a 9-0 decision to Victoria in the season opener for both teams.
The loss was the third straight for Saanich and kept the team without a victory in its last 20 games – a streak that dates back to Jan. 3.
The Braves fall to 0-2-0-1 on the season.
In Nanaimo, Will McNamara scored the game winner with 2:46 remaining to lift the Buccaneers to a 3-2 win over the Kerry Park Islanders.
Next game for Victoria istonight against the Peninsula Panthers. Game time at the Panorama Recreation Centre, located at 1885 Forest Park Dr., is 7:30 p.m.
