There’s a cyclone heading for Vancouver Island.
BC Hockey announced on May 25 that the Victoria Cougars will host the 2016 Cyclone Taylor Cup, the Junior B Provincial championship, April 7-10.
The champions from the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL), the Pacific International Junior Hockey League (PIJHL), and the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League (VIJHL) along with the host team compete in the championship tournament.
“On behalf of the Victoria Cougars Junior Hockey Club I’d like to say that we are honoured to be selected to host the 2016 Cyclone Taylor Cup,” said Tom Arlidge, Victoria Cougars Junior Hockey Club director at large.
“I know that our board of directors, volunteers and coaches will work together to produce what we hope will be the best Cyclone Taylor Cup to date. Thank you again to the selection committee for the opportunity.”
The 2015 Cyclone Taylor Cup was hosted by the Mission City Outlaws from April 3-6 in Mission. The Campbell River Storm defeated the Kimberley Dynamiters 6-5 in the gold medal game. The Storm then went on to capture the 2015 Western Canadian Keystone Cup with a decisive 6-3 victory over the North Edmonton Red Wings. The 2016 Western Canadian Keystone Cup will be held in April in Regina.
