The Victoria Grizzlies have been putting in work on the road this past week.
Victoria lost to Merritt 2-1, lost to Salmon Arm 6-3 and beat Nanaimo 5-1.
Against the Merritt Centennials, Grizzlies’ Riley Hughes scored in the final minute of the third period to pull Victoria within one before time expired.
Grizzlies’ goalie, Kurtis Champman saved 22 of 24 shots in the loss.
In Salmon Arm, Grizzlies’ Marty Westhaver got the Grizzlies on the board to tie the game 1-1, and Victoria’s Edward Yan scored in the first the score 3-2 at the end of the first.
Victoria’s Charlie Campbell scored in the second, but it wasn’t enough for the Grizzlies.
Grizzlies’ goalie Keenan Rancier saved 33 of 38 shots on goal.
After two tough losses, the Grizzlies scored five goals against Nanaimo. Goals came from Alex Newhook, Jordan Guiney, Carter Berger, Campbell and Brady MacDonald. Chapman picked up the win for Victoria, saving 24 of 25 shots.
Up next for the Grizzlies is Powell River at The Q Centre Friday Sept. 28 at 7 p.m.
