Judo BC announced the 14 athletes who will compete for Team BC at the 2015 Western Canada Summer Games this August in Wood Buffalo, AB.
Victoria will be represented by Tristan Alexander from the Victoria Judo Club.
“I am extremely happy to see the whole province represented on our judo team,” said Aline Strasdin, Team BC Coach and Chair of the Judo BC Technical Committee. “The Western Canada Summer Games are a great multi-sport opportunity for our younger athletes. Many of these athletes have attended the BC Winter Games, and this is great opportunity to help them prepare for larger events including the next Canada Winter Games in four years.”
The team selection tournament was held on March 28 at the Steveston Community Centre in Richmond.
To be eligible to participate in the selection tournament, athletes needed to attend a series of tournaments and camps starting in September as part of the annual selection for the Provincial Team. The top athletes in each of the 14 weight divisions (7 female, 7 males) have been selected to the team.
