Dozens of guests including friends and family members of Dan Sharrers gathered Saturday afternoon to remember his and his wife Barb’s legacy in the Hope community.
The Hope RiverMonsters swim club announced the creation of the Barb Sharrers Volunteer Appreciation Award and presented it to the first two recipients: Stu Leslie (2016) and Anna-Lise Cooke (2017).
Leslie was the force behind the RiverMonsters, a reboot of the Hope Otters swim club of Sharrers’ era.
Cooke, was a big coaching contributor who drove from Delta every week to train the new club. Originally from Hope, she swam under Sharrers’ instruction and says she still applies lessons from those days.
