More than 800 skaters from all over B.C. came to the Mission Leisure Centre for the Jingle Blades Figure Skating Competition on the weekend.
Many of the Mission Skating Club members enjoyed competing on home ice and even brought home some medals. The following skaters represented Mission Skating Club:
Star 1 Girls: Jemma Mazzocca (Bronze), Emma Ginter (Silver), Sarah Fredrick (Gold), Vanessa Kinvig (Bronze), Payton Vanderkooi (Bronze), Makinley Buckle (Bronze);
Star 2 Girls: Amy Matthews (Gold), Taylor Pohoda (Silver);
Star 3 Girls: Rachel Geary (Bronze), Jayda Kinvig (Silver), Sophia Smith (Silver), Milada Kubb (Silver), Autumn Atkinson (Bronze);
Star 4 Girls – 10 & Under: Lyla La Hay (Bronze), Lily Crondahl (Seventh);
Star 4 Girls – 13 & Older: Chloe Nguyen (Gold);
Gold Interpretative: Emma Fedora (Sixth);
Special Olympics – Level 2 Dance: Katie Marchbank (Gold);
Special Olympics – Level 4 Women’s Freeskate: Katie Marchbank (Silver).
Mission Skaters will continue to train for their next big competition, the 2019 BC Coast Region Championships/WinterSkate held in Richmond from Feb. 1-3.
