Brock Leitner managed to salvage his night in the Canadian National Arenacross Tour on Oct. 29.
After rough starts out of the gate, the Summerland resident placed fifth in the AX Lites Pro, eighth in the pro open 450 and fifth in Clash for Cash, in which he earned $275.
“It was a good night,” said Leitner, who heads off to Calgary for the final round of the AX Tour on Nov. 5. “I wasn’t too happy with my performance at the start. I went down a couple of times. I wasn’t feeling myself out there. Once I shook off that first race, went out there and regrouped, and got a LCQ (last chance qualifying) win.
Leitner, who moved to the Okanagan from Grand Prairie, Alta. nearly two years ago, learned where the lines of the track were.

“I ended up salvaging some good points and good finishes,” he said. “Definitely not complaining on the night.”
In the lites pro, Leitner said he was up against several fast riders.
“When I was sitting third, I was definitely bummed when I went down,” he said. “I knew if I would have stayed up, I’m sure I could have held on to get that podium in the hometown.
“Each and every week I’m just trying to progress more,” he continued. “To hopefully contend with those top guys. Even be pushing for wins here soon.”
Leitner intends to take the positives from the weekend for more success in Calgary.
“I felt a lot more confident on the track this weekend,” said Leitner, who thanked the fans for giving me support at the event and cheering him on. “Gonna carry that confidence into this weekend.”
