Patrik Polivka won his second straight start as the Victoria Royals are now on a five game road win-streak after Wednesday’s 4-1 victory against the B.C. Division leading Kelowna Rockets.
The Royals improved to 15-10-0-1, handing the Rockets (16-3-0-1) its third regulation loss in 21 games.
Tyler Soy opened the scoring for the second straight night, a power play goal and his sixth of the year. Soy took a breakout pass from Mitch Skapski, broke down the left wing and, fired the puck through the pads of Rockets’ netminder Jordan Cooke.
It was winger Skapski’s first point in 12 games as a Royal.
Austin Carroll, Ben Walker and Brandon Fushimi added goals while Polivka stymied the Rockets, who out shot the Royals 27-19.
The Royals host a doubleheader Friday and Saturday against the Kamloops Blazers. Puck drop for both is 7:05 p.m. at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.
