The Santa Rec Run, presented by the Bears Den Restaurant and Hoodoo Adventures, got people into the holiday spirit early by breaking a sweat with five and 10-kilometre run/walks.
The event attracted 150 people, resulting in $2,000 being raised to support the Youth Outdoor Recreation Society, a newly founded not-for-profit subsidy program that funds outdoor recreation opportunities for schools in the Okanagan-Skaha School District; including kayaking, hiking, biking, rappelling, adventure based learning, group development, and leadership.

“It was our biggest run by far,” said Lyndie Hill, owner of Hoodoo Adventures. “It was a huge success.”
Hill said it was wonderful to have the increase in participants as it will allow them to put more programming into the schools.
Participants enjoyed a chilly, yet sunny Saturday morning.
“I couldn’t ask for better weather. I think the sun came out just for us,” Hill joked.
