Teams competed for softball supremacy on the snow-covered Finlayson Park ball diamonds

The third annual snow pitch tournament held at Finlayson Park on Jan. 19 and 20 in Sicamous offered a chance for softballteams from around the Okanagan to put on ridiculous costumes and brave the cold for big prizes.

After the last snow-covered slide into home plate, hometown team the Salamanders won the tournament and free rental of adouble-decker pontoon boat from Red’s Rentals.

The first runners up were the Devils from Kelowna, who earned themselves a pontoon boat rental from Bulldog Rentals. Fortheir third-place finish, The Redneck Bandits of Kelowna will get a wine tour courtesy of Shuswap Adventure Co. The fourth-place team, Retrospective, who are also from Kelowna, won free entry into next year’s tournament and a $100 liquor store giftcard.

Along with prizes awarded for victory on the diamond, prizes were awarded for the best costumes. The team costume awardwent to the Johnny Depps from Canoe and Salmon Arm who showed up dressed in costumes faithful to the actor’s mostfamous roles. They received a Twin Anchors houseboat rental. Jenn Rozek picked up the best individual costume and a onenight stay at the Owlhead Bed and Breakfast.
