VIDEO: Vees host Salmon Arm seeking fifth straight win

The Penticton Vees host the Salmon Arm Silverbacks at the SOEC on Pink the Rink night.

The Penticton Vees will be shooting for their fifth straight win with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks visiting tonight at 6 p.m.

In five matches, the Vees have two wins, including one in overtime.

”I guess you could say we have had some problems with Salmon Arm,” said Vees forward Jared Nash. “That (a 5-2 loss on Jan. 22) is still in the back of our mind. We want to put that to rest. Let them know that we are the better team.”

Heading into today’s matchup, Owen Sillinger leads all Vees scorers with two goals and four points against the Silverbacks as reported by the Three V’s Blog. Chris Klack also has four points with one goal, while Duncan Campbell has three goals.

Their win eliminated the Bulldogs from playoff contention in the Island Division. Akito Hirose, Nathan Iannone, Connor Sundquist and Justin Wilson scored for the Silverbacks and Nic Tallarico made 27-saves for his second shutout.

Nolan Hildebrand is getting the start in goal for the Vees. Taylor Sanheim remains out of the lineup with an injury, while Greg Brydon slides back in with Gabe Bast receiving a rest as he returns to face the Victoria Grizzlies on Sunday.

Today is the Vees’ annual Pink the Rink night in support of Anti-Bullying Awareness.
