Four goals in two games earned UVic Vikes Amanda Kurianowicz the latest Canada West Player of the Week award.
The fifth year member of the University of Victoria women’s field hockey led the Vikes to back-to-back 3-0 wins over the Calgary Dinos, as Kurianowicz scored once Saturday (Oct. 4) and then all three for a hat trick on Sunday.
Kurianowicz’s efforts put her atop the Canada West Player of the Week finalists, which draw from all Canadian Interuniversity sports.
With the wins the Vikes move to 4-0-2 and earn a berth in the 2014 CIS National Championship, hosted in Toronto at the end of October.
The Vikes host the UBC Thunderbirds Saturday Oct. 11 and Sunday, 11 a.m. at the UVic water-based field hockey turf.
The Canada West title is on the line as each team shares an identical record, having drawn against each other in both previous matches this season.
