The Trinity Western Spartans dropped a pair of games to the Victoria Vikes to start the Canada West season at 0-2.
The Spartans lost 82-71 and 78-61 over the weekend at the Langley Events Centre.
“As far as our defensive game plan, we did a good job,” said Spartans coach Aaron Muhic. “We were very consistent in how we wanted to play in the post and I thought we were pretty consistent with our ball pressure and things like that.
“Victoria just did a really good job of getting the ball in the paint and we got tagged with a bunch of fouls that really got us out of our rhythm.
“We’re doing the right things, but we just have to keep going and fight through and understand how to win.”
Josiah Allison and Lucas Mannes led TWU with 15 and 13 points, respectively, while Patrick Vandervelden pulled down 10 rebounds in Saturday’s loss.
Dean Richey led the Spartans with 22 points the first night.
The Spartans are at UBC this weekend for a pair of games.
