Vipers deal for Eagles’ Mulcahy

The Vernon Vipers have upgraded their offence by acquiring Brett Mulcahy of the Surrey Eagles.

Brett Mulcahy, captain of the defending B.C. Hockey League champion Surrey Eagles, is now a Vernon Viper.

The Vernon Vipers have upgraded their offence by acquiring Brett Mulcahy of the Surrey Eagles.

Mulcahy, a 20-year-old Kelowna product, was leading the defending B.C. Hockey League champion Eagles with 23 goals and 35 points in 36 games. He has served as captain the last two seasons.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pounder began his BCHL career four years ago with the West Kelowna Warriors. He has a scholarship to the Holy Cross Crusaders in Worcester, Mass. for next season.

Vernon gave up speedy, 19-year-old winger Chase McMurphy, who counted five goals and two assists in 18 games. McMurphy has committed to the University of Alaska-Fairbanks Nanooks for next fall. The league trading deadline is Friday.
