Volleyball action heating up in Langley district playoffs

Grade 8 championships on Nov. 1 and junior championships Nov. 3, both at Langley Events Centre

The high school volleyball season is heating up as the local teams look to qualify for the Fraser Valley championships.

The Grade 8 and junior Langley district championships, for both boys and girls teams, wrap up next week.

The Grade 8 championships conclude on Nov. 1 at the Langley Events Centre with the gold and bronze medal games while the junior championships will be contested on Nov. 3, also at the LEC.

In the Grade 8 boys division, Langley Christian faces Walnut Grove in the gold-medal match while Betty Gilbert and Langley Fundamental will play for bronze.

The top three teams advance to the Fraser Valley championships.

And on the Grade 8 girls side, Langley Christian and Credo Christian will square off for the gold medal. Both teams have also qualified for the Fraser Valley championships.

The bronze medal match features Walnut Grove and Langley Fundamental.

For junior girls, Langley Christian will play the winer of Langley Secondary and Credo Christian in one semifinal and D.W. Poppy faces Walnut Grove in the other.

The top three advance to the Fraser Valley.

And in the junior boys division, Langley Christian faces Mountain in one semifinal and Langley Fundamental battles Credo Christian in the other.

The top two teams will qualify for the Fraser Valley championships.
