Bryn Taylor-Hawes collected the winner as the Vernon Voltage shocked Shuswap 4-3 in Petite ringette action Saturday afternoon.
Kenzie Koshure, Kalen Webster and Rylie Marchand added the rest of the offence, with Jaden Scott, Taylor-Hawes and Webster providing assists. Brooke Buller earned the win, supported by defenceman Grace Cornell.
In Novice action, the Vernon Orcas fell 13-8 to the Vernon Dragons in their season opener.
Tye and Chayse Krause each scored three goals, with Sierra Lochhead and Tori Christensen adding a goal apiece. Brooklyn O’Hara, Arianna Kositsin and Daine Thoma helped out with assists.
Kaila Summerfelt paced the Dragons with a hat trick, while Emma Roine fired off two goals and two assists, and Brynn Korol, Shaila Austin and Hannah McMorran each supplied 2+1.
Saturday in Enderby, the Dragons shaded Shuswap 6-4. Summerfelt had an outstanding game in goal, supported by Brynn Korol, Alassa Johnson and Hannah McMorran, each with two.
The Vernon Tween A Rush used stellar goaltending from Garrett Adams to outlast the Vernon Junior A squad 2-1 Sunday at Priest Valley Arena.
With both goalies standing tall, it took until the final second of the half before Kendra Ostafie converted a feed from Maddy Percy to break the stalemate. Osatafie later greased a slick pass through the crease to Saige Woodliffe, who one-timed it.
The Tween B squad fell 9-1 to the Junior Bs in exhibition action. The Tweens got solid defensive efforts from Natalie Ethier, Mason Christensen, Ellen Campbell and Sophie Granley, and good play up front from Jillian Pipke, Abby Matsen, Addison Nerbus, Demi Williamson and Chelsea McNabb.
The Vernon Petite Rebels bowed 8-7 to Shuswap Black Saturday at PV.
Abygayle Williamson put on a scoring clinic with four goals, Ashly Shwaluk had a pair and Madison Fox had a goal and assist. Aly Carter, Katie Finlayson and Hailey Quiring each had an assist.
