His name is not on the ballot, but Taylor Green has been putting up some all-star stats in the Pacific Coast League lately.
Patrolling third base for the Nashville Sounds, the Comox Valley minor baseball stalwart has been red hot over the past month, hitting .370 in the past 35 games and an astounding .514 over the last 10 games.
Online all-star voting is underway, with the deadline this Friday, June 24 at 8:59 p.m. Fans can click on the Sounds (or PCL) website and follow the all-star voting links. The ballot does not list Canadian provinces, but voters can enter any state.
Enter Green’s name, team and position in the write-in portion at the bottom of the ballot. Each e-mail address is eligible to vote 25 times.
This is the sixth consecutive season where fans will play a role in choosing the up-and-coming players to start in the Triple-A All-Star Game. The fan vote will count for one-third of a player’s total (33 per cent) and will be added to the votes of the media (33 per cent) and Triple-A field/general managers (33 per cent).
Green is currently fifth in Sounds’ batting with a .301 average. Through 59 games he had 58 hits, 10 home runs, 36 RBI with a 374 OBP and .544 SLG.
